Ice Climbing is undertaken on a purpose built tower incorporating a 12 metre high climb. The surface is closed cell foam that accepts ice axes and crampons making it suitable to climb. Overhead is an automatic descender leaving the instructor to help you climb and place your equipment. You will need to bring with you long boot socks and gloves and weight restrictions apply (22stone/140kg). Boots supplied from sizes 5 - 13.
All equipment is supplied by Phasels Wood as it is specially designed for this type of surface.
One instructor is required for a group of no more than 15 per 2 hour session. Two additional adults from your group are needed to help with harnesses and to supervise the children not engaged on the activity.
This facility is approved for use by Girlguiding UK and GG Level 1 instructors are available.
